This is a very easy mod to do. Get gutter guard from Lowes. I needed 2 pieces @ 2.79 each. Remove hour grille. Cut gutter guard to approximate size needed. I painted mine red after this step. Clean your grille good. JUsesome kind of epoxy or silicone to glue the mesh to the inside of your grille. I used wire to hold mine tight while it cured.

Put back in truck then you're all done.

If you can't figure out how to get your grille off or can't fill in any of the tiny details on your own then you probably shouldn'try this.

Not bad. Openings are a little small IMO. Something more along the lines of chicken wire would look better in my eyes.

I was mainly looking to keep most of the bugs and small gravel out of my radiator. I'll probably do the lower valance and foglight holes this weekend.

And it also hides the cardboard over my radiator in the winter. Looks much better than a Charmin box.

Why do you need cardboard.... If your trucks not getting up to temp in winter something's wrong.

Not necessarily. Up here having a grill cover is almost standard, and pretty much every vehicle that does any mileage has one.

Uhm. I'm "up here" as well. We had an insane amount of cold days here in manitoba this year. Coldest in 78 years or something. I do 140 miles a day. 6 days a week. Not once have I ever needed cardboard. Truck is ALWAYS the same temperature.

Maybe your guys' coolant mix is off or something. But you shouldn't need cardboard.

If I don't, no reason you should. Barely ever see any cardboard covering grills here. And it's colder than alberta.

It warms up quicker with it than without. Gets up to temp approximately 40% quicker. Also when I don't have it in and the thermostat opens my temp goes from 188 down to about 145 on my scanguage. With it in the temp only drops to about 165-167. Your engine runs more efficiently with higher engine temps which leads to slightly better mpg in winter. I'm a bit of a hypermiler and went from 23.5 mpg in summer with my old driving habits to averaging over 26 in winter with extra weight in the bed. The extra efficiency from the cardboard got me about .25 mpg gains. Its also nice having the heater blowing hotter air faster.

Also helps keep all of the this road salt out of my radiator.

I'm gonna have to do that now.
