I have been approached by a company that needs someone to install and test a set of manual hubs for a 1998-2000 Ford Ranger. Please read part of the email quoted below:

The person who does the testing is free to keep the hubs and we would like to use the same person if additional prototype testing is needed. We want to make sure that they are better than what has been offered.
Who ever you choose please let them know that this should be held in confidence during the development and testing period. We would like to get honest and real world feedback (good or bad)..

As mentioned, you will get to keep the hubs and may be asked to do more testing on another prototype if needed. You also have to keep the information private.

Please let me know if you are interested in testing these hubs. I would like to get someone who would be able to photograph and document the install to be used once the prototype hubs are released (NOT before).

I'm also looking for someone who will actually take them offroad and gradually test the hubs ability. Someone who can gradually progress the trails difficulty to get a real world test of the hubs ability. Anyone can break a set of hubs. This isn't a "let's see how fast we can break them" test. Build up to the hubs failure point (if there is one) and document what you put it through and what finally did the hub in (if applicable).

Anyone interested?

Send me a PM. :icon_thumby:

I'd be happy to test them out. I live in the black hills, so i'm surrounded by places to wheel. I've got lockers front and rear, and am currently running AVM hubs.
I have a pretty good camera, and would be able to document well.
I'm basically stock height on 31" tires.

I desperately want to be the guy for this test!!! Over this past winter I was doing some major maintenance on my 2000 Ranger 4x4.The bearings in the sides of the differential were bad(grinding) so I decided to replace the axles/wheel bearings/hubs as well. While reading around a couple different forums I came up with the idea of getting manual hubs from AVM.Since my 2000 was built after the changeover I had to buy axles and wheel bearings from a 99 and of course the AVMs which were on backorder til mid march.Well, today is Apr 12 and my AVMs are still not here,my truck is not driveable without hubs and if I have to get stockers I dont have the vacuum lines to operate them.So yes,I am VERY interested in doing some testing or whatever I can do to get out of my wifes van! PM me here or call/text 330-987-4452 if you need to get in touch. Thanks,Brian

Please do not PM me unless you have a 1998-2000 4X4 Ranger.

98 was the year they went IFS, wasn't it?

I'm in as long as they'll ship them to Canada.

ill take a set to try out on my daily dirver. its a 99 4.0 4x4 ranger. i dont normally use the 4x4 much but i could do alot of trail riding with it if i needed to test out a set of hubs.

i have a 98 ranger and a 99 i would be happy to test them on my farm in wv thanks

Please let me get in on this! I F'n HATE my AVM garbage. I have broken 3 AVM hubs over the past three years. I drove all winter with the one remaining hub on my truck. I use Aussie lockers in my 99 and used to wheel it HARD but because of a lack of reliable hubs that are easy to find when they are needed I basicly stopped wheeling this truck and built a Bronco2.
I have a brand new ORV park about an hour from my house and 20mins from where I work that has trails and challanges for every level of truck and skill level. This park would be great for testing and very easy to get to every weekend.

A lot of the photos on their page were taken by me. The Silver/Grey B2 is me.

You can look up my "Deathbypsi" on here, Ranger-forums,Greatlakes4x4,Bronco2.org for lots of pics and threads about my truck and wheeling trips.

As stated my truck is 99 with a built 4.0 and fresh 5r55e trans. Motor has ported aftermarket heads,Comp cam and new everything....very strong. It has 4.10s with Aussies,2" Add-a-leaf and t-bar crank, new CV shafts, skid plates,lights,snorkle,e-fan,32" GrabberII on 16" ProComp wheels and TONs of trail rash, pinstripes and even a few scars from a flop:icon_thumby:

They won't.

Put me in if you're going to choose someone with a 98-mid 00 4x4 Ranger. I'd love to try these out.

I am about to convert the live axles on my 2006 to hubs (I have a set of the AVMs.)

I wouldn't mind trying these new hubs - but this truck doesn't see super-serious off-roading (it's more of a boat puller.)

I am interested, though...
