I have a 97 Ranger that was laid on its side and the top of the cab is bent. Figured it'll be easier to replace the cab than try to repair it. Cabs around me are 400+ and I found a 94 Mazda B4000 that I can get for 300. Question is, will the cab fit onto the frame?

Also, instead of replacing the front, i thought about cutting the fender supports at the firewall, welding it back together onto the new cab when its on. Would this work?

the cab will be a direct bolt on for your frame.... however the 97 dash and engine harness will not be a direct bolt on for your cab...the firewall is completely different.

I would suggest that the extra 100 bucks for a 95-97 cab (either mazda or ranger) is well worth you not having to mess with the older style firewall with your newer mechanicals/ electrical.

Looking at the firewalls the only difference is wiper motor and where the PCM mounts?

The 97 dash fits on the 94 mounts correct? wiring plugs enter cab in the same spots?

from what I understand, the 95+ dash and firewall are completely different. the newer style 97 dash will not bolt directly to the older 94 firewall, and the wiring harnesses are completely different, I do believe that the plug to the firewall/ dash was changed to a rectangular plug from a round plug harness.

do a quick search on putting a new dash into the 94 or 93... I know it has been discussed before. Talk to people like ADSM08, he is a pretty good source of Ranger knowledge and a Ford Tech. AllanD is another good source, and it is likely that he has done this swap..

the Way the 95-up steering column mounts to the firewall an the pedal brakes are RADICALLY DIFFERENT.

I've been trying to find a way to make a 1993 cab (which I already have) work on a 1998-up frame
(which I also already have , an '01) and have been drawing a blank.... because of the steering column differences....

I'll note that those thinking of replacing a cab on a 1995-97 that a 1998-10 cab should be an easy fit...
