My B2300 a4ld wont shift at all when in D or OD. Starts out in 1st,, but wont shift to 2nd. I can manually shift from 1st to 2nd but when shifted to D or OD it just spins free. Any ideas as to what might be causing this?
A further update.
I drove the truck to church this morning, and now it is slipping at first in 1st gear , then finally engages solidly, But still will only shift to second manually. Wont shift at all in D or OD. It also slips at first in reverse until the engine revs up a bit. the fluid level is correct, and I see no signs of leakage. The vacuum line to the modulator has no trans fluid in it, but I don't take that as a guarantee that the modulator is good. I am wondering what I can do to narrow down the possibilities. I can replace the governor, and modulator myself, but I hate to spend the money if it isn't going to help. I really need to get this taken care of ,as I start a new job tomorrow, and I don't want to have to rely on others for getting to and from. Any input would be very much appreciated.
