i know everyone says the maximum front lift is 2". how about with the 4+/- alignment shims. i have the 4.0 ex cab with skyjack er 2" coils but i feel like they didnt give me a full 2". so i was planning on doing washers since i need to get it realigned anyway. how much lift do you think i could go with the new shims before i can't get anymore. if i could get another 1.5" that would be cool

Keep in mind, you won't get +/-4 degrees of camber without losing proper caster angles. Figure about +/-2 degrees for camber while still getting proper caster.
Get adjustable bushings by the way and find a shop that doesn't hate them.

ok. so with the 2+/- how much lift do you think. do you think it would be possible to put an inch of washers underneath. ill try to get a pic of how much adjustment the stock ones have left

You might be able to get some idea of how much range you have left by how high your beam pivot bolts are off the ground vs. the center of your wheel hubs. 2" higher than the hubs is about the upper limit for alignability.

i'll get a picture. then i'll leave the deciding up to the big boys. i was planning on just doing the leveling coils and a 2" body lift. but if i can squeeze another 1.5 out of the front i'll do shackles and a 1" bl

sorry about the crappy lighting. to my untrained eye it looks like i could get a bit more. how would i be able to actually measure this if you can't decipher it here?

by the looks of it you're good. Leave it. If you want more lift you need some drop brackets. I really like my JD stage 1 brackets, they drop the pivot arms and radius arms exactly 2" for a mild lift

Comparing the two pictures, I'd say you cannot lift a total of more than 1"...meaning you can only put a maximum of about 2/3" worth of washers/shims. This is due to the TTB lift ratio of 1:1.5.

This means, for every inch added underneath the coil, results in a net total lift of 1.5" of ride height lift.

Keep that in mind, as if you add a stack of 2" of washers, you are basically adding 3" of actual lift.

oh yeah. i know about the ratio and stuff. but dang. i wish i could have done more than that. i guess i'll stick with what i have for now and save up for a used lift on here or cl

Looks like I see your axle shaft in about the same location as in the pic I posted. I would agree, you probably don't have much more than another half inch or so more you can stack in there without risk of not being able to dial the camber and/or caster back in.

As for measuring it... Don't you got a tape measure?
Measure from the ground to the center of your beam pivot bolt, then measure again from the ground to the center of your wheel hub. Beam pivot should be no more than 2" higher than the center of the hub while on level ground.

yeah. i measured it that night. turns out i'm already right at almost 2" so i think i'm gonna save for a lift kit
