If i were to put 4.10's in the rear would I need to also install some in the front diff?

unless you only want to use it in deep deep mud, or on a lift.

Yes, you have to have the front and rear gear sets matched... unless you can calculate out the exact tire size difference in order to match it back up without regearing the front (4x4 tractors are like this).

yes you have to have your gear sets matched. ive seen it happen were someone doesnt and the xfer case gos boom

sorry if this is off topic, but how much do most shops charge to install a new ring and pinion in a 7.5 inch rear end, considering you already have the new gears?

4wheel parts wanted to charge me $400. It's cheaper doing it your self if you know how.

+1.

Diffs are easy to put together, its the backlash and pinion depth that take all the time.

good deal I was thinking about it last night. then I had a dumbass neighbor telling me I didnt need to do both at the same time. guess I just over-thought it. I'll read up on the backlash. I did a fullsize bronco one time but with no one helping and I must have gotten lucky I had no problems afterwards, and I didnt know a darn thing about backlash. Thanks guys!
