My master cylinder recently exploded so I'm replacing both it and the line with the quick-connect that runs to the slave. I drive a 1996 Ranger with a 4.0L and M50DR1 5-speed transmission. My question:

Is my master/hose assembly specific for my truck (4.0, 4WD) or will the assembly from a 2.3L 0r 3.0L work just the same?

The only differences I could think of would be hydraulic line routing because if the exhaust pipe. To the best of my knowledge, the transmissions and slave cylinders are common across all these trucks with the exception of different tailhousings(2WD or 4WD).

You can get the master cylinder and line together as a package, it's very common. You'll need the 95+ MC and line, they are unique to the 95+ years.
