Before I spend the money to replace this let me get some thoughts.
If I unplug my MAF the motor runs fine if I plug it in the RPMs drop and the motor fights to stay running. I have had probelms with power going up hill and the idle wanting to pick up when you come to a stop.I have made a few changes recently.

Took off the air muffler and put in a peice of steel tubing
Put a flex fan on with a 2in spacer
Installed a flowmaster delta 40 muffler.

Any thoughts Thanks

It has a 2.3 in it

Before you replace it, have you tried cleaning your MAF? They sell cans of MAF cleaner and it made a difference in idle on my ranger. Never hurts to spend a couple bucks on something small first.

I took it apart and cleaned it seemed to make it worst.

Hrm, that's odd... it helped for my ranger and my wife's passat. You didn't get carried away and blast the filaments away with the spray did you?

when you unplug the MAF it should runs worse and maybe even die after a bit. something is wrong with the operation of the MAF. did you have this issue before you did the mods. the air muffler is the 2 plastic pieces in the airbox right?

when you cleaned the maf did you use the maf cleaner? was the maf cold? did you let it dry first? did you touch the wires at all?

When My maf was bad it did the same thing your is doing. I could never figure out what was wrong so I unpluged it and it ran great for a day or 2 with no problems. So I cleaned it pluged it back and it rans great. I'd say you need a new one
