Manual transfer case lights backwards after swap

I have a 1994 ranger that I changed the be 1354uto transfer case over to a manual case. All original ford parts including the wiring harness for the 4x4 lights in dash. In 2h the 4x4 light is illuminated, and in 4h the light is off. In neutral and 4L the lights work correctly.

I have check just about everything I can think of including taking the wiring apart and trying to trace down the dash lights. Checking the normally open switch dent on top of the case etc.

Does any one with one of these cases have any tips? Or should I just leave the harness unplugged? Or live with the light on while in 2wd

Thanks in advance

Might be a bad switch.

All the switch does is make a ground for the light to work, so if you are getting the ground either you have a bad spot in the wiring that is grounding it out (fairly unlikely IMO because then it would run all the time) or the switch is grounding in the 2wd position.
