manual tcase stuck in 2hi

so in my 89 BII, i went to haul her back in 4hi and it was really stiff, but i got it back and she wouldnt engage, and i also tried her in neutral and 4lo but shes still stuck in 2hi. and the '4x4' and 'low range' lights dont come up on the dash. i think its just some of the linkages are slipping. what do you guys think?

and probably later tonight i will get a buddy to come with me and move the shifter while i look under her to see if anything moves or if anything slips

Just get under there and there is a tension bolt on the shifter linkage rod, just make sure its tight, but if its stiff to move im guessing it isand just needs adjustment, is there any body or Susp lift on it? Transmission ever been out of it? If so I can almost guarantee and adjustment issue.

nope no lift at all and nothings ever been out of it, all original. i tried loosening the big bolt, i think the wrench i used was 1 1/8" but still the same.

try backing up, then egnaging the case, sometimes they get stuck
