92 ranger 4x4 4.0
The trans has been rebuilt and shifts great, TC locks good but has a hell of a stall to it when not locked and will only lock above 50mph.
When pulling hills and such I can keep the truck at speed with very little throttle as long as the converter is locked, but as soon as I drop below 50mph and the converter unlocks I might as well drop it in 3rd and floor it.
It burns alot of gas because of this too, the converter is always locking and unlocking on my ride to and from work (45-55mph and some hills)
I have seen trucks with switches to lock the converters manually but would like to know if anyone has done this? I hate automatics with a passion but i think this will help me alot. I dont mind unlocking it to slow down and unlocking it to down shift ect...common sense...
Witch wires would I need to splice into?
thanks
