Putting an m5od in my 89 ranger (was a4ld).

i plan to eliminate the clutch triple function switch or whatever its called, but uhhh, where's the plug for it on the auto truck? :dunno:

also, on the little harness that goes around the m5, will that just plug in to where my auto one connected?

Its the one that goes in the side of the tranny. Use the wiring diagram in the backof the haynes manual.

I just did that this past weekend. I didn't dosomething right, but it'll start. It has tobe in neutral .

Also remember to get a starter for a manual tranny

alright cool. what did you do about the clutch switch?

the clutch position plug is right behind the hod latch. Just put it one. it will literally take 1 min to install at most. just remember to put it on before you put the rod into the master cylinder. Just slide on it.

The harness on the side of the m5od will not just plug into the auto harness. its for the reverse lights. I never hooked them up but on the auto harness its the purple and black wires. I never figured the wires out but i pulled the NNS(neutral safety switch out of the auto trans and put a cap on it and it started right up. Makes it really easy.

also dont need manual starter unless your going 4.0 clutch which really is not need unless you beat on it or have big tires.

unless you beat on it or have big tires.

i think it sounds like i need to do this :icon_rofl:

so you're saying my auto truck already has the plug for the clutch switch, right?

and I already have the NSS bypassed for my 302, i guess ill just leave it that way and figure out the reverse lights...

thanks for the help bro

uh oh, just read on another forum that without the clutch interlock, the cruise control wont work :annoyed: is that true?

not sure. i doubt that would matter. mine works fine. maybe ill unplug mine to see it it'll work without it pluged in.

but seriously just put the plug in just to be sure just because unless you've been driving a manual since you started you might just start it in gear a possible sit something you'll regret.

the clutch multifunction switch is already got a jumper plug in it.
It's underneath your dashboard, but you don't need to do a thing to it.

The auto trans harness connects to the main wiring harness on the drivers side inner fender, the side by side grey and black plugs. that harness doesn't just go to the transmission, it also connects to the oil pressure switch and oil level sensor in the oil pan.
