Manual hubs

I Picked these used warn hubs up last week. I didn't notice at the time when i bought them but today i was cleaning them up and noticed that they looked a little different inside. Its hard to explain but the one on the left looks flush and the right sticks out a bit . i hope you can tell by the pics. Is this normal?

its like that either way locked or free. and now that i look at it more it looks like its the outer part thats not out as much.

The hub on the right is a newer design than the other (uses a bronze bushing instead of a roller bearing)
 
Naaa... it's just that the one that "sticks out" is the newer design.
