'97 Ranger - recently swapped out junk factory auto hubs with Warn manuals. Supposed to lock hubs then use switch on dash to activate 4W. My question is will I screw anything up if I lock hubs and drive while still in 2W - in case I need to switch into 4W on snowy roads? Thanks.

Your gas mileage will drop some but you will be fine driving in 2wd with the hubs locked in.

I won't need to drive very far/often like this. So mileage won't be too much of a concern. Thanks for the reply!

i do it all the time, hubs are locked right now. you only lose about 1-2 mpg. fuel milage in winter goes down some for a few reasons, its best to not worry too much about fuel useage when its winter.

I was actually wondering this samr thing...although not for those reasons. Not much snow in Florida lol. Good to know
