Ive got a 2000 ranger 3.0 flex fuel
268k
I hear rattling (maybe pinging)
Very very rough idling and shaking
Sounds like a diesel truck
Doesnt stall out though
Extreme loss of power (barely goes 35mph)
Puttering like hell
Missfiring
I believe im starting to also smell rotten egg
I cant tell where the noise is coming from though it sounds like its my convertor though, its as if the truck is choking iis there any way to check my convertor with out removing it? Or what do yall reccomend i do?

When i floor it the truck literaly sounds like its birping

remove the front oxgyen sener and see if it helps it at all

Sounds like a clogged catalytic converter. I'd guess that your exhaust is getting really hot as well. Don't let it go to long, all the extra heat buildup can warp exhaust manifolds and damage your cylinder heads.

depending on when you last changed the gas filter it wouldn't hurt to spend the $ 10 for one..

I took convertor off i dont believe it changed anything i couldnt really tell a difference because of how loud it was ( the engine was still shaking badly though), i hooked it back up went back to autozone scanned it and its showing P0340 camshaft position sensor and P1409 vacuum regulator circuit fault failed EGR vacuum reg. And engine mechanical condition timing belt/chain out of time

Now should i bother spending more money into a camshaft position sensor or are these symptons of that?

checked the plugs to the camshaft sensor everything looks good is there any way to test one?

ok i replaced the sensor on top and it didnt really do all that much
i called advance they dont carry it they looked it up under distributor but it keeps saying dealer item

Found it at napa still didnt fix the issue though gotta check my timing

If this problem suddenly occured, maybe the timing chain jumped a tooth? Seems unlikely, but I suppose it could be possible.
