Hi guys, I'm new and desperately needing help! I have a 99 ranger 4.0 4X4 5 speed with 145K on it. When I bought the truck it had a rattle if the clutch pedal was not pushed to the floor, push the pedal in and the noise would go away every time, when I pull out the noise would be there but eventually go away. When I would go to downshift from say 4th to 2nd it kind of screamed a little and didn't want to fall into gear like it should. Today I was driving in 5th gear and it popped like it popped out of gear, pushed the clutch in went to neutral and back to 5th and nothing...... I pulled over and I can put it in any gear I want, let out on the pedal and it grinds and wont pull out! Fluid level was fine 2 weeks ago and I haven't seen any leaks. I've been thinking it was the throw out bearing but now I'm really not sure. Could the pressure plate or the throw out bearing have blown apart? I've had no trans issues at all other than what I thought sounded like the throw out bearing. I'm a mechanic but I do mostly alignments, brakes, oil, etc....anything that won't tie the bay up for more than a couple hours so I'm not all that familiar with anything more complicated than clutch issues. what does this sound like to you guys?
Thanks
