- Fix it till its broke!
Ok so 1996 2.3 I've been chasing some issues where my truck suddenly wouldn't run right and would stall. I tested fuel pressure, cleaned filter, tested fuel pressure regulator, iac valve, tps sensor. All those seemed to check out. Used a multimeter where appropriate. Put new plugs and wires. Tested coil packs they seem good. Cleaned MAF and air temp sensors.
After all that it would run but either struggle to get going and feels like it's missing or take off fine but then stop accelerating regardless of how far I pushed the pedal until I released and pressed again then halfway down same thing. Looked around and found an O2 sensor ripped on the harmonic balancer. Replaced and now it idles ok and still struggles a bit compared to before this week but once going is going ok but still feels like it it missing. Pulled codes and got p0102, p0113, p0135, and p0301.
I ran torque live data and the air temp sensor reads correctly from that I can tell. Unplugging it and replugging it alters the live date would go from 100+ air temp to -40 and back if I plugged it back in. Went to test MAF sensor live data and it's 0 no activity so I tested voltages etc as per several online sources and I get 12v on red wire, continuity on ground wire. 5v from Red to either other wire, no voltage from either other wire to ground including the tan/blue wire. So according to online documentation I'm not getting signal from the fuel injector computer to the MAF circuit. Not sure how to continue or if that's wrong at all. Don't want to throw parts at it though. What can I check next? ECU? Is the MAF circuit working correctly and it's the MAF sensor itself (no breaks on the 2 wires that I can tell and cleaning with a q tip gently I don't feel any give to indicate a break. Any help would be appreciated! I'm gonna clear the codes and drive it tomorrow and see what pops up since I haven't driven outside of short test drives since last week.
