i did that thing with two completely different sites and it showed the same 9 results. could you clarify what you mean by the next hop router...is that showing the series of routers my internet goes thru?

Yes, that is exactly what it means. The names and IP addresses you see doing a tracert shows you the response time and ip addresses of the routers between you and the destination. It's a mediocre test to show where latency in a network connection is coming from.
