Maaco Paint

Maaco does not have quality paint. I can speak from experience. Back when I had my 85 Mustang it had a Maaco paint job on it. It looked fair for a few months, after that it looked like crap, so I decided to have it repainted by a friend of mine. When we started to sand it, the paint gummed up into little balls on the DA sander. he told me that they buy their paint in 55 gallon drums and that is more like an industrial enamel than an auto paint. I also worked with a guy that had his malibu painted by them, it was yellow and it had runs all over it and spots where the paint was so thin, you could still see the primer.

sounds more like application than paint quality. I have had and seen many very good Maaco paint jobs, all boiled down to owner preprep. Maaco uses the same paint as any other body shop.

Earl never used catalyst in his paint. Thats where he made his money. That and little or no masking. Had to be sure to roll the windows up. Paint took d a y s to dry. Better than Rustoleum roll-on......slightly.

What do you REALLY expect for $300 ? I spent that much on supplies for a motorcycle frame. Primer, base coat, color, clear, hardeners, reducer. Just quarts of OEM colors.Btw black will show EVERYTHING wrong with body work. $.02

the lighter the color the better it will look like wite or yellow not blak or dark grey
