Hey all... just completed my 5speed swap the other day...
have 2 questions....
first is an easy one to explain... i got a pre-bled system from dorman...
installed my clutch pedal... and i only have to push the pedal maybe an inch to full disengage the clutch?? is that a symptom of air in the system?
and 2nd question i noticed this today...
the previous owner of the transmission said that he got it from a guy and alleged that it only had 70k on it... the guy i got it from said he put it in his toy explorer... so im sure he probably beat on it...
but he had im sure overfilled it atleast... and he has some pink fluid in it that appeared to be slimy/sticky... im sure for offroading and such...
i just changed the fluid last night to valvoline high mileage ATF, this morning it seemed fine...
but this after noon after work i had to hit ace on the way home which meant the extreme long way home probably about a 30mile trip total with stop and go then some 55 to 60mph areas right by my house...
i noticed the whine a little when i got to the open road parts by my house, then i had to run a quick errand to the store and back about 5 miles there and 5 miles back... and it seemed pro-dominant at that point.
it seems more pronounced the higher gear im in... im almost convinced that may have to do with road/tranny speed....
when i put the clutch in, it goes away and when i put the tranny in neutral and let the clutch out its gone also...
im wondering if maybe the valvoline mercon is too "cheap" for the tranny?
any ideas are greatly appreciated! thanks!
