Hi all,
Rebuilding an M5R1 and just have a quik question. Everything is new going into it, it gave me 389K faithful miles. Question here is on finishing the assembly how does one determine the amount of shims to install ?? When I tore it down there were none in it but as I said it is getting all new parts inside and I just want to be sure to complete the job correctly.

Any info would be greatly appreciated

When I rebuilt my 1993 M5R1 transmission, I used a Ford factory service manual as my guide. It gave specifics on how to measure for the various shims used. It's straightforward if you have the factory service manual, the required measurement tools, and can follow directions.

Here's the relevant pages from the service manual
