I am changing the input shaft on my M5OD trans. I was able to get the rear shaft nuts off using a pipe wrench but I can not get off the rear outter bearing. In the shop manual they call to use a special tool that fits over the output shaft and has a puller. Any suggestions?

I use a crow bar to get the bearing off. Use a 1/8 rubber pad on the gear when resting the bar to pry the bearing off to prevent chipping a gear tooth. And pry a different points or rotate the bearing so that you don't bend the bearing in one area.

a hammer and a brass punch. don't pry
