i have a 93 ranger 4.0 4wd ext cab with the a4ld. i found a 98 explorer 4door 5speed in the junkyard 4wd. I'm wondering if it would work in my truck? any input would be greatly appreciated since I'm going to pull it tomorrow if it works. thanks!

It will work just fine. I did the same swap to my 1987 BII. I recommend that you get a 4.0 clutch/pressure plate/flywheel. You must also score the starter and clutch hydraulic master cylinder from the donor if you use the 4.0 clutch assembly. The pedal assembly is a pain--need to find one from a close model year to yours. When you take it out in the junkyard, disconnect the clutch master cylinder from the pedal and firewall and pull it down so you don't damage it (I'm assuming you don't own the quick disconnect tool for the hydraulic line to the clutch slave cylinder) I'm not sure of any changes from 94 to 98 on the Explorer that might make it a problem--might have to consult someone who has dealt with that year first. The neutral safety switch from your A4LD must be bypassed to get the starter to work--don't know if my wiring is similar to yours, but if u want info. on that I'll pass it along. Good Luck.
