automatic 4x4, 1354

PROBLEM:

ok, this truck is hard to shift. it doesn't grind gears, it just needs to be forced into gear. this problem is in all gears. the resistance feels "plastic" if that makes any sense. the trans has fluid and the fluid is only about 10,000 miles old. I have had this problem for 2+ years. in the 2+ years the problem has not gotten any worse. there is no wierd noise or anything. clutch fluid is good and full. clutch peddal has good tension. (almost too much if you ask me). the clutch was replaced right before I bought it. (I have the receipt still). what is wrong with it? How do I fix it?

Personally I've had this problem on my b-II that I bought with a 4.0l already installed. It took a year and a half before I found the problem... the flange 'ear' was broken so the master was flexing away from the firewall every time I pushed the clutch pedal.
Another possibility is the bushing on the pedal has gone away and you've worn into the aluminum pot metal of the pedal support [don't know the correct term].
Yet another possibility is the firewall has some major stress cracks, allowing the master to [as in the first case scenario] flex too much in relation to the firewall.
All this is assuming that the system is bled properly.
Good luck,

Richard
