I've recently come into two transmissions that i was told are freshly rebuilt, both are apparentlty M5OD-R2s, how much could i get for them?

code on the casing says F1TA

I've seen them go for around $400 typically. Do you have paperwork/proof that they were rebuilt? if so, then you may be able to fetch another $100-200, but without that they are worth no more than a Junkyard transmission.

no, i don't have any paperwork but it should be trivial to open the top cover and look inside.

Trivial or not, just by cracking it open isn't going to tell you how recently it was rebuilt honestly... No paperwork will mean its worth the same as a J-yard trans. I'm just giving you input like you asked for.

If I had a 5.0 in any of my trucks and they were 4x4s, I'd buy one.

But neither of those are the case.

they are not 4x4 transmissions anyway.

M5OD-R2 are 4.0 Transmissions.... I have one in my Explorer.

No, the R1/R1-HD is the 4.0 trans. The R2 is the full size model for the small blocks.

The M5OD (Manual 5-speed with Over Drive) is a line of manual transmissions produced by Mazda and used in Mazda and Ford cars and trucks. Two variants, light-duty R1 and medium duty R2, are made. R1 transmissions have been used in the Ford Ranger, Explorer, Aerostar, and Bronco II. R2 versions have been used in the F-150, Econoline Van, full size Bronco, and the Cougar/Thunderbird with the supercharged V6.

Totally thought it was a different trans for the 5.0's

M5OD didn't show up behind the 5.0s until the 90s. It was mostly Tremecs and the ZF up to that point.

T5 gearing is far more aggressive than the M5OD I'd imagine also? How do they compare strength wise?
