M5OD-R1 Shifter Top Plate

I have a M5OD-R1 from a 1996 4.0L V6 Ranger 2WD. The transmission has the shifter located close to the middle of the transmission, the other ranger transmissions (M5R1's) have the shifter located to the rear of the transmission.
My question is, will the top plate from my transmission (shifter center of the cover) interchange with the transmission with the shifter located at the rear of the cover. Basically will the covers swap? Mine has 10 bolts on top.
