OK guys so I can't seem to locate much in the line of quality advice on my transmission. I just got done putting the kit in it and it seems to work on the bench except for one small thing. It shifts 1 through 4 and up into 5th just fine but when I go to bring it back out of 5th it seems to hang in 5th and then lock when I place it in another gear. Reverse seems a bit sketchy on the shift back to neutral also. I did put in a FOMOCO shifter rebuild kit. The bushings, pins, and cap.
Then I have another issue. I still haven't found the battery charger for my camera and I did not take photos of the shift collars on the output shaft. I played with the collars and installed them in the direction that they appeared to set furthest into gear. Does anyone have a photo pf how they were put in from the factory? The photos I have found aren't in high enough resolution for me to tell. So besides imminent self destruction what happens if you get one or both of the collars in backwards?

Well since no one came up with an answer on my shift collar rings.... I had BOTH of them in backwards. :shok:

While scouring google for images I ran across one that showed the rings well and it lead me to this tread.

Very helpful on putting it back together. So for those of you like me that didn't photograph every step of the tear down there is help.

I ordinarily would edit the original thread but since this is a major update I wanted to bump it back to the top.
