M5OD question...

I have a 2wd 1992 4.0 with a M5OD.

The confuser always pulls a code for "not in park/neutral".

Do all generations have a neutral position switch/sensor?

I just had the tranny out an did not see an unpluged connectors... When I pull't the tranny, it was just clutch line, speedo, and reverse lights...

The early ones had a plug opposite the reverse light switch that was for a neutral position sensor. I think it was dropped in 93.

Hmmm, I looked at that spot where the diagrams show it, but it just looks like a blank.

It kind of sounds like maybe that truck originally had an auto-tragic trans and nobody changed the computer.

What is the transmission code in the VIN?

A4LD is a T.

M5OD is an M.

You can tell a lot of things from the VIN. It isn't just a serial number.

Which number position indicates transmission? I goggled a bunch of sites including ford and none indicated the vin contained transmission info.

I am used to getting this info from decoders, not doing it myself.

So the VIN on the door has a T in it, but is marked M under trans...

There are several positions for a T in the VIN but none of them refer to the trans.
