I thought id run this by you guys.

I was riding down the highway in 5th and dropped it into 4th to pass someone when my transmission started acting funny and smoking. Then I couldn't get it to go into any gear besides neutral and fourth. I suspected a faulty slave so pulled it and replaced and I still have the same problem. I can start the truck in neutral and I depress the clutch pedal but it won't engage any gear but when I try fourth I hear a lot of grinding but no engage. I know the slave is working and I'm a dummy and didn't check the clutch but I will today, although pressure plate looks good.

Bump with more info,

I'm guessing I broke the sihfter fork for fourth or the 4th gear synchro/dogteeth are locked in, but I'm guessing shifter fork. Anyone know how hard it is to replace that? Could I access via top cover?

yeah i think the fork tree is in the top cover i killed mine so i tookit apart to lookinside the fork tree and al its glory in your hands lol good luck
