i have a question i'm hoping someone can answer. I got a replacement trans for my 94 2WD and the code on my trans is F27A-XA . the code on the trans i got is F27A-UA. When i asked the guy at the yard why the codes aren't the same he said the computer says it will fit but couldn't tell me what the difference is. do any of you know what the difference is and will this fit in my truck or can you send me to a site that can tell me any help would be great

Most likely its just a different year code or different manufacturing plant code. If it is the same engine as yours, it will work. FYI, a 3.0 trans don't have the same bellhousing pattern as 4.0, so you just can't get a V6 trans...

thanks for the info i'm going to stuff it in over the weekend so we will see if it works

after much discussion with the manager of the local trans shop we have discovered that the codes tell you what motor the trans is for and what configuration it is in so a F27A-UA is a RWD L4-23 its a 4 cyl trans and will not fit up to my 3.0L . So in hind sight don't trust the guy at the salvage yard to know what he is selling do your homework . so you don't have to pull your trans twice

Where you located? I just pulled a 3.0 M5OD 2wd that I thought my buddy needed, but he needs a 3.0 auto...

Bellhousing identification simplified:

TWO bolt starter mounting on the drivers side = 2.8/2.9/4.0

Three bolt starter mounting on the drivers side = 3.0

Three bolt starter mounting on the PASSENGER side = 2.0/2.3/2.5 SOHC "Lima" 4cyl engine.

And I've got no fookin clue what the 2.3DOHC bellhousing looks like.
