So here is what is going on. It shifts fine going up through the gears. However when i push the clutch in it revs really high. I don't have a tach on the truck, it came stock without one. As soon as i let the clutch out or shift to a higher gear and let the clutch out i'm fine. It only does this with the clutch in. If i try to down shift it does no good, the thing still revs up and i gotta push the clutch in and fight it with the brakes to get it stopped.

So recap of the issues.

1. Revs high when clutch is pushed in
2. Fine when clutch is let out
3. Fine when clutch is let out after shifting to another gear
4. Downshifting does no good as it just continues reving

Any ideas what could be going on? I'm new to working on manual transmissions. I have only had automatics except for a 93 Topaz i owned for a short time but never had to do anything trans related.

I don't know if this could somehow play into it but the truck has a severe oil consumption issue. I'm keeping the engine topped off with oil and end of this week into next it's getting looked at and figured out. I have a feeling it's rings or valve guides but can't be sure right now. I'll try and answer any questions the best i can, as i said manuals are a new field for me.

Check the PCV plumbing and valve.
Sounds like a big vacuum leak that uses oil.
That is likely to be PCV.

Just replaced the PCV about a week ago. Maybe two weeks. I checked it all then and check it all tonight and it seems as though all the tubing and plumbing is good. I'm going to look tomorrow in the daylight tonight i was just using a flash light. I do know in regards to the engine oil leak that there is something other than a PCV leak. I pulled the plugs the other day and they were in really bad shape. I have a thread over in the 3.0 forum with a link to the pictures of the spark plugs.

I'm wondering is there anything on the transmission case like vacuum lines that could have been damaged when i slid into a ditch? I was on a country road and hit a bad patch of snow. Truck went sideways and i buried it in a ditch filled with snow. The entire front axle was buried, had to be drug out by a tow truck. Not sure if i might have knocked something loose or maybe screwed something up that way?
