M50D-R1 out of 3.0

So i own a 5 speed 4.0 ranger and i am wondering if the 3.0 5 speed or the 2.3 will fit up to my ranger i seen it had lower 1st 2ed and 3ed gears which i would like a little bit lower gear power for take off would it fit right up to my engine the way it is. but ive also seen people putting the M50D-R1 hd in there rangers but it has the same gears as the trany in my truck now, from what ive seen on the tech articals here.

No, you cannot bolt a 3.0 or 2.3 trans to a 4.0. The bell housing patterns are different and the M5OD has an integral bell, so no swapping.

You can however interchange the guts of the 3.0 and 2.3 into the 4.0 case. I have done this for BrayD. Like you said it gives you a lower gear set. Simple to do also.
