I was at napa picking up a fuel filter for the red rocket (94 f-150)and the lady told me her husband owned a ford graveyard. She has a 90 ranger with a blown 2.9. What are the chances of it being a mazda tranny and not a mitsubishi one...and what should i look for if it happends to be a mazda? i know sycros and the fluid that is in it...but anything else?
I have been searching relentlessly for one since february.

I want my tuck back :bawling:

There's a pretty good chance it's an M5OD-R1, my '90 has the Mazda tranny. The dead giveaway, visually, is the M5OD-R1 tranny has an integrated bellhousing, the older Ranger manual transmissions have detachable bellhousings.

If the 90 is a 2wd, 100%.

If it's a 4x4 I give it about 10/90 in favor of the Mitsubishi trans.

I just spoke with the woman and it is a 2wd truck. They are parting the rest out also. Gonna need a fuel tank, ground strap for the engine, and the tranny. And I'll be back on the road.

And it's a fm132. More like fml. I bought it regardless of the terrible reviews and it swapped right in besides the yoke on the driveshaft.
