i have a 2002 ford focus w/ 2.0l sohc 5 speed manual mt5? transmission. what fluid does this take? ford dealership is no help on a saturday (not that they would be helpful on anyother day). any one got a good guess?

what kind of fluid did you need? tranny? oil? radiator?
i believe you take 5w-20 oil. regular green antifreeze thinned to 50/50 water. you shouldnt need tranny fluid as its a manual.

dont forget to check your blinker fluid :)

You don't lubricate manual transmissions? Good thing you don't work on MY vehicles.

Sorry, I don't know which fluid that transmission takes.

:clapping:well i was just wondering because i just had a customer in who was working on the cv shafts and had to drain the fluid to do the service but wanted to replace it with new stuff. so being a parts guy i got out my catalog and looked it up and it says fluid type SLF. so i look in the key to see what SLF means and it says "special lubricating fluid". alot of F***ing good that does me. so i called the ford dealer and of course the parts department is closed at 1:00 and no one there knows how to use a catalog or computer to look it up. so we couldnt help her and we lost a sale. so i figured that you guys would know better than fords because between all of us on here we could start our own car company and put ford, honda, toyota, gm, and chrysler out of business! thanks again for the countless pieces of knowledge.

MAKG what do you mean you dont lubricate manual transmissions? you mean you dont go under your car with WD-40 and give it a good soak down? youre crazy! im just kidding. i guess it doesnt really matter anymore, i just wanted to help out a customer. and i dont think i ever said that i needed manual trans fluid, i guess i just assumed you guys knew what i was thinking. sorry. if there were more women on here we would never have to even post, we would just all read eachothers minds........fucking women.

Quite a lot of manual transmissions take ATF. Quite a lot of others take GL-4 gear oil.

It's VERY bad to guess wrong.

yeah, thats why i consulted you guys after ford told me they were clueless. i know alot of fords manual transmissions take atf, and some take gear lube. i checked the internet (actually found a ford focus forum called focusfanatic.com) and they said they were using amsoil 5w40 motoroil. i dont know what to say..........ford and their "better" ideas.............

There is no such thing as a mt5 trans.
It is a iB5, MT285, or MTX-75. They all take Ford Manual transmission fluid , spec :WSD-M2C200-C .
