Give her hell!!
Hi, im looking for real people who have used either a limited slip or a locker to help me make up my mind. Im going to upgrade my rear end to one or the other. This truck is my daily driver to and from work. I drive some pretty good hills in the winter and want a good all around balance, but i also dont hesitate to get into the mud. So if anyone has some input or experience with either one, good or bad, please let me know. Thanks!

Got LSD's front and rear in my big Ram 2500. Front Tru-Trac is awesome, rear Mopar sucks donkey balls (dosen't engage near enough)! Powertrax No-Slip in rear of ranger and it too is awesome, but has minor handling quirks that a good driver can adapt to.

I use to drive a old 70s Ford with Detroit's front and rear on 33s bald 33s at that and crawled through a mud hole up to the door handles no problem but turning on the street sucked cause it would hop real hard in the rear but if I was in 4wd on the street I couldn't turn unless I had one hub unlocked cause it would bind real bad if you want guaranteed traction ya can't beat a locker if I had to choose right now it would be a air locker or e-locker something I could lock up when I wanted or unlock when I dont need it

How many times are you going to start this exact thread?

well adsm08, you told me to "start my own thread instead of piggybacking on someone's elses somewhat related thread" so thats what im doing. ill start any thread i want to get the info im looking for. im not going to jump into something until i know what i want for sure. it seems like all you do is sit in front of the computer and read this forum. so all in all im just taking your advice... Ridgerunner, what do you run in the front of your ranger and what size tires? im running 33's now but want to go to 35's i want something thats going to last a while. Mightyfordranger, thats what im leaning towards now. but with my girlfriend drives it i dont want her to forget about the locker being in. if that did happen could it ruin a locker on the snowy roads? shes used to the AWD mazda cx7 she drives but i have her drive the truck on bad days. just looking for the best ballance an life expectancy.

i run a super packed limited slip in my 8.8, its awesome. never notice it on the street, only time i ever notice it is when im in low traction areas. i would definatly run another super packed limited slip.

what brandare you running?

cny_ranger, I have 32" MT's now and I have left the front open diffs. I have a 94 so it has the TTB front, not sure what if any locker U can get for your 2000. In the winter with the rear locker I can do 180's at will when I want in 2WD, handy on tight dirt roads when U need to turn around! Locked in 4WD it isn't much of an issue but your girlfriend will want to drive your truck in 4WD on snow where there is noone around to get used to the handling of it. It is completely different than an AWD car or SUV. I've owned 2 Subaru's and they R hands down great in the snow but my new one (2013) is a PITA with the antilock brakes NOT stopping when U want! Electronic nannies R killers IMO!

ridgerunner, that was the info i was looking for. thank you for your input. subarus are great in the winter, that why we went with an all wheel drive. i want something safe to know shes going to get there. cny winters can be a pain, and hard some years. and yes the elec. nannies are killers. in my younger days i would run without the abs and the airbag cause both can cause more damage. now i still run without abs because im used to it. but when it comes to something where driver abilities rely on the driver not something electric i want the best easy way out for saftey. thanks for the input am thinking about a diff swap and maybe an added disk or two lol
