its funny that everyone here says put the locker in the rear but jeep guys say do the front first, since it can pull you over/through.

i have no idea, i was just noticing the differences in truck groups versus jeep groups

The overlanders I follow always recommend a rear locker first since it is the one most useful. Then a front locker that doesn’t get used often but is nice to have in certain situations. They have driven both Troopies and trucks. Setup was pretty much the same. Plus, a front locker is more likely to break stuff than a rear locker.
 
understand...auto lockers are brutal. but i sure as hell would have one over a limited slip any day.

i have both...short wheel base and long wheel base machines. the long wheel base is more forgiving on pavement...and it greatly benefits with a rear locker. gentle pedal negates any serious tire wear. with short wheel base tire wear is definitely increased...where 4-5 k tire rotations are needed.

there is no way in hell i would ever use a front locker first. with a rear locker you can often run in 2wd. jeeps can be front heavy and sometimes it can help...but that is chassis and suspension specific...

there is a higher chance of flipping over on stout climbs.....on high traction surfaces....where it can benefit to slip the rear keeping the fronts on the ground....



my bronco spooled definitely wants to go belly up.....you have to be vigilant with the clutch... my ranger....well...different story...but it goes belly up too...just have to really be getting crazy verse just driving normal...

Coming from a Jeep guy, lock the rear first, and I wouldn't lock the front at all on an IFS rig, puts way too much strain on the front end parts.
