Hi guys, I'm new here. I recently got a ranger 3.0l 1998 for cheap.
I'm just wondering, if anyone has done a Toyota 1UZ V8 swap into a ranger before, considering that it has being difficult getting a 5.0l ford V8 in Lagos, Nigeria?

Thanks for your contributions.

After looking up what that is...i doubt itll fit in the engine bay. Quad cam V8s are massively wide.

Anything is possible if you have a complete donor vehicle, time, money, and plenty of torch fuel, sawzall blades, and welding rod.

But it wont be as cut and dried as a 302 swap. By any means.

No, can't say as I have read about Toyota V8 swap to a Ranger

The most common swap is the 302/5.0l OHV V8 engine which is only 19" wide so fits between steering shaft and heater box, but its still a tight squeeze

Anytime you have an engine with overhead cams you run into the issue of width, in any vehicle
The 4.0l SOHC(overhead cam) fit in Rangers because it was a 60deg V6 engine, when an engine uses a 90deg "V" it gets wider

You CAN do anything, but get the measurements of the Toyota 1UZ V8, especially WIDTH and then see what will need to be moved
Height of the engine can also be an issue with overhead cams, but you can do a body lift to accommodate for that
Width is a bigger deal because Rangers are smaller trucks

EDIT:
Just looked it up, says the Toyota V8 is 26" wide, 650mm, although I also saw 770mm so 30", not sure which is correct, or second one may include stock exhaust manifolds in measurement
