Has anyone heard of or tried this swap. I have a 84 bronco 2 4wd. I was thinking maybe I could get a ls1 motor in there and use the stock ls1 pcm for 6 speed and swap that in there to or would this be to much trouble. Ive read that yall are swapping 351s in there. I have a ls1 sitting in my garage next to the bronco so I was just pondering. If yall could inlightin me on what yall think. Or just tell me im a noob and that this swap is to much trouble, bad news or good news is still more that what know now.:nopityA:if its to much trouble how bad is it to swap a 5.0ho in there

Btw this site is awesome.

anything is possible. I was going to swap a 350sb into the explorer I used to have. there are several 350 swaps on here. But why a 6spd? If you have a 4x4 you want a wide ratio transmission. definitely going to have to swap that 7.5" rear axle for an 8.8 or even maybe a 9"

Thats the reply I needed. I dunno why a six I thought it would be cool to have a 6 speed. What kind of tranny do you recommend that would make this thing go in the mud? Im a total noob:icon_twisted: to the whole 4x4 scene. This mainly gonna be used strictly for mud being from south west la and southeast texas we dont have trails we have mud. I was thinking maybe some 40 boggers. I like the bronco 2 cause its light and my buddies that do play in the mudd told me to buy it cause it would be a good mudd toy.

Seeing as the LS1 looks more like a Ford motor than an chebby, go for it.

That would probably be no more work than putting a Ford EFI 5.0 or 5.8 in there as you would have to install the whole computer/wiring harness and change out the tranny, t-case, and axles anyways.

If you got it there, I say research what transmissions and t-cases will work and then go for it. You're several hundred bucks ahead by using an engine you already own.

4L80e for an auto with an NP 205. NV4500 with NP205 for manual.

Thanks guys for the help im gonna start digging around for stuff to make it work:stirthepot: ill post pics when work starts. Right know im studying for finals.

I just thought of something. I was going to use a ranger gear splitter and a toyota Landcruiser 4spd for a 350 (or a 3.9L cummins) into my landcruiser. that solved the problem of needing a kit to adapt the toy's 4spd to a 350 (the gear splitter has a sbc pattern to a toy trans pattern). the toy's transmission is rather strong and the gear splitter not only turns your 4 spd into an 8spd but it also gives you a 24% overdrive. and specter off road sells adapterd to put what ever t-case you want behind the toy's 4spd.
