i have put several threads on here. But i am broke, tried to save money for a 3/4 drop but that didnt happen. ok i am thinking about a 2/4 or 2/3 drop. i am thinking about flipping hangers but how safe is that and what about hauling a load how will it work. and i cant afford 100 springs so i will cut them i know it is not recommended. so how much do you cut off to get 2 inches, and do you have to adjust the camber.

Yes you have to adjust the camber. Adjustable camber ecentrics can be found at most auto parts stores. I think mine came from NAPA. There's no set amount to cut to achieve 2". Cut a little at a time and roll the truck a few feet fore and aft to level the suspension.

Flipping the hangers is fine. Nothing unsafe about it IMO. Can't answer your question about hauling a load. How much you plan on haulin in a lowered truck?

ha you are right about hauling things. i am still remodeling my house and all the heavy stuff has already been moved. I have been told to start out cutting off a turn on the coils and then see how it looks, you should know the fab work you do is outstanding.:icon_hornsup:

See 2wd suspension thread about ranger bounce.....it could help you

so if i lower the rear end you are saying to put air shocks on the rear so if i haul something it wont be sitting on the axle.

i had cut springs for a while, before i went lower 1 1/2 turns cut off got me about 2-3 inches, ive got flipped shackels and ive hauled stupid stuff for a lowered truck with no problem.
as far as camber bushings NAPA has them 15 bucks each so 30 bucks and you will be about 2-3 inches lower

Heres how mine looked when i did the same thing

You got it! You don't even have to spend a 100 bucks for adjustable rear air shocks.....just be sure to lower the truck first & get it at the heigth you like best before measuring the distance from the upper shock mount to the lower shock mount.

i know this is a old thread... but if i put a early 90's explorer rearend under my 90 ranger do i have to cut the leaf pads and move them?

If you used a flip kit on an explorer rear end and leaf springs it would lift the truck.... explorer rear ends sit on top of the leafs from the factory not under like a ranger. I am also not sure if the leaf spring packs or pinion angle set on the explorer rear would be the same or not. There should be some write ups on here or other ranger sites with a how to since it is a very common swap. The explorer rear is wider than the ranger rear. I would also use a 95+ explorer rear so you could have disk brakes.

My 97 Expo Rear was "flipped" for a 4 inch drop from the factory..no flip kit needed...and its about 2" wider than a stock Ranger rear.
