About a month ago I became the proud owner of an 06 Ranger Sport with the 4.0.
The struts are toast. At some point a previous owner added helper bags. They are doing the bulk of the suspension work currently. I just order front and back ranchos. I am interested in doing a shackle flip to lower the truck a few inches. What am I getting myself into? Is it gonna screw up my truck? I don't know what I am doing. Please help.

A shackle flip usually nets 2" of drop, it'll nicely level the truck. You will need shorter than stock rear shocks though.. 2" shorter.

It's a job that'll either go relatively easily OR it'll be a headache that requires more new parts. If the bolt that goes through the shackle & leaf is seized to the sleeve in the leaf spring bushing.. that's where you'll run into headaches.

Well... I guess I won't be doing it, as I already bought the struts. Darn

what front end do you have? torsion bars?

i would still flip the rear shackles, i mean i did and its been fine. i haven't replaced the shocks yet but it still works for driving around town
