Excellent diagnosis on the lower intake gasket leak that caused the engine to fill with coolant.

Thanks to all who contributed.

We found a local garage to change the gasket for under $500 so felt not that bad about that.

Shortly afterward the check engine light came on. The system indicated the O2 sensor was slow to respond.

Changed the sensor (MAKG will like that) and now have the check engine light back on indicating the same problem.

Any ideas what could be causing my problem. I'm leaning toward something that was not correctly installed when the intake gasket was changed.

Still looking to find the good little truck we thought we bought.

Regards to all,

Don in Dryden

Take it back to the shop if the complaint is new.

There are a number of potential causes, but a very likely one is a new vacuum leak, either around one of those new intake gaskets or a broken or missing hose.
