low budget prerunner project

sorry I forgot to answer your question in my last post I haven't done anything with the bump stops. just started bending up a spare tire carrier today!! im trying to come up with a way to build a hinge so I can drop the carrier to load a bike.... any ideas? was also trying to come up with extended radius arm designs I think im going to stretch them back to the tranny mount???

That's good that it rides nice. I do like Rancho shocks. They are on my truck currently. If I were you though, I would be worried about bottoming a shock out and damaging it or bending a shock mount. I jacked my truck up and took a spring out with the shock installed and pushed the arm up until the shock bottomed out. There was some room between the arm and the bump stop, which means I would have eventually bottomed the shock, especially when I did some off roading. All I did to fix it was bolt a piece of 2x2 square steel to the frame and the bump stop to that. It's not pretty, but it's good enough for temporary.

I eventually want extended radius arms myself. There are some good designs here on the forum that have given me good ideas for mine. I have radius arms from Autfab's econo lift right now, which mount to the stock location and are modified to have correct caster with a 4 inch lift. I have been eyeing hinged tire carriers and tire gates and the like, too. I'm sure someone has done something you could get some ideas from. What do you have for a bender?

look up thc-fab on you tube this dude has a sweet design on his carrier. its the only video I can find with a flip down carrier

so I was having a couple issues... my truck would die every time I hit a bump or crack in the road. I was scratching my head about this for months! turns out it was a loose connection on my ecc relay. I posted the issue in the v6 thread on here and had not a single reply!!! anyways I fixed it. then I had a weird sound like a freewheel on a bmx bike coming from the front when I would turn left. turns out it was a clip that popped off on the inside of the hub lock.

Looks good man I'm running the same springs in the front and personally I think they are way to stiff. Good luck on the build!

ya they are a little stiff but feel a lot better than stock. I like the ranchos too I haven't ever upgraded offroad shocks

I have been thinking of moving this thread else where... I don't know if its because of the 4x4s aren't prerunners hype or if anyone is interested in a prerunner 4x4 build... but it seems like people aren't interested, aren't looking in here, or have any comments or opinions. any thoughts?? not trying to complain but I have seen this a lot on other peoples build threads as well

the prerunner section doesnt get action.id try the under construction section
