bought my ranger 4.0 v6 4x4 Off Road like 3 months ago. 1800 bucks it had 197k miles on it. Found out the 4x4 doesn't work. Hoping avm manual hubs will fix problem. Got an oil change within first month of having it. And to fix a coolant control valve cause it was spraying and I had to keep adding coolant. Was told it sprayed on 2 of the 6 spark plugs and ruined the sockets? Guy said he has me running on 4 plugs now cause it runs better. While it was jacked up the very back 2 shackles broke off and down came the wheels. Needless to say I got a 500 dollar bill to replace them. 278 in labor 212 for parts including coolant part. Ridiculous. But neways... I slid on ice and snapped the wheel hub so had to buy the assembly for 200 175 for install. Then my drums went and destroyed a bunch parts around it 155 in labor and they charged me 58 per drum and 38 per shoe. Another ridiculous part price. Plus other pieces 470 for that fix. I have these things I plan on fixing then it seems they fail before I get a chance to and I'm stuck at random places paying atta my arse. Lol. well shocks are next, hope they don't break in half before then lol. Just venting lol.

....What?
Who the hell are you trusting to fix your truck?

Dude, what?

Half of that doesn't make sense, half of it is wrong, and most of it sounds like someone is taking you for a ride.

Since when does a 6-cylinder ANYTHING run better with two dead cylinders?

Find another mechanic, fast.

I would also stop complaining, I mean its a used truck with very high miles and who knows what happened to it before you got it. A teen kid could have had it before you and rallied the piss out of it.

If it were me I would look through everything before taking it out again and avoid paying your mechanics anything.

Gomer Pyle working on your truck, Bro!!!!!??

WTF?? :icon_confused::icon_confused:

That's what happened to my truck, except I was the teen kid who rallied the hell outta my truck. That's how and why i learned to fix my own truck. Glad i did or else that thing would probably be dead by now.

Yeah man get a new mechanic. or work on it yourself. nothing runs better with two dead cylinders. that truck with a little maintnence from the right person should last you for a good while and still be a strong runner

I know it is retarded the spark plug thing. And things that I said that don't make sense is because I'm not the most auto knowledgeable person. Tryin to learn as I go. I was saying things seem to go wrong before I can buy the part I want to replace something with and I end up stuck at some place. The brakes with the drums. They ruined the wheel cylinder and caused brake fluid to leak through them and I had to go to nearest spot I chose a meineke which is never cheap. I had no brake pressure, I was pumping them for air or w.e was eventually causing them to work. I have a guy to go to but I was just complainin about neon like DAMN! Cause it happens usually right before I buy the part. I forget what the thing the spark plugs plug into is called. I think something coil? Idk I found it online for like 70 I think. And ya the truck runs awesome it's just small things that needed to be maintained that never were and they caused alot of supporting parts to start failing. But by time I get it all fixed it'll be like a new truck. My shifter came with 2 being drive so D is neutral. Everything is one over to the right. Would that require a whole new transmission? I plan on putting a rebuilt engine and tranny from powertrain products as they have an awesome warranty with them. They do too seem too expensive either. Idk maybe I'll just fix the small things and trade it in. I know one dealer would of given me 1k for it trade in, knowing the problemS it had but I've gotten alot of those problems fixed since then.

I got thick skin so call me stupid if I attempt to guess and am completely wrong lol. But I will deffinately try the troubleshooting long as I think I can attempt it. I just thought avm hubs were the easiest fix to try if truck was engaging 4x4 but not spinnin front wheels. I hate it when I get stuck in snow it'll spin one wheel only sometimes. My mother in laws galant is better with slippage then this thing. I know guy before me obviously hit something short as the fog light bumper part was missin and bulb wire was hangin but metal upper bumper is still there. I was thinking of doin away with gettin a new lower half and figurin a way of mounting lights to bumper. If there's random misplaced words it's cause my stupid iPhone didnt like how I spelt things.

I think I'm just gonna do the manual hub fix for free thing. Troubleshooting the system takes along time and I don't really care about having to get out and do it. Ya maybe it is a quick fix but I know crap about it and this seems more idiot friendly. Which I am when it comes to 4x4. Whether criticism or not, Ty for the links and tips. Worst case scenario I buy manual hubs.

If I were you, I'd sell the truck a buy a honda civic.
