my 2002 ranger 4x4 4.0l makes a loud clunk that sounds like it is coming from the rear axle. It only does it when i step on the gas while the truck is already moving. It makes the truck "hop" when it does it.

Try checking the carrier bearing and mount if you have one? (supercab) Or maybe its a u-joint that needs replacing. I would definely start with obvious wear items first and then go from there. See what you find out and let us know you findings.

I suck when it comes to this stuff. Can you help me out a little more as to what i should look at? Yes, it is a super cab.
THANKS!!!

the Carrier bearing is on your drive shaft, between transfer case and axle.
