I dont know if there was a post on this issue , sry if there is . i got an 86 2.9 auto 4x4 . and the issue im having is it back firing through the intake i was told by a few trs members on facebook thats either a timing issue or the ica anymore advance would be great ... leading up to this i used 1/3 of seafoam and changed out the fuel pump and map sensor . the truck has 158,000 miles but i dont know if the motor was redone or not .
:icon_confused::annoyed:

Questions,....The map sensor ,is it the correct one?...Is it hooked up properly?

yeah its connected right and the right one ... i did plugs and wires yesterday and still backfiring i was told it could be the cap and rotor ? wat do u think ?

Check everything, make sure the throttle position sensor is plugged in and has good connection, double check everything.

ok update ... heres what i replaced so far , plugs and wires , cap and rotor, map sensor , had the timing checked and its ok and i replaced the tps sensor and the ignition module . and had the vacum lines hooked up .. still loses power could it be the egr ? or is my motor shot ?

are you checking the timing correctly??? i've heard a lot of people don't set it correctly and start a bunch of other problems

did the shop unplug the TFI module to set the base time? every non ford shop I have ever been too misses that step.

ok update i checked the compression on my truck 155.5 (1) 155 (2) 180 (3) 165 (4) 175 (5) 165 (6) dont know if thats a good thing or bad thing . drove it the other day it backfired for alil bit then cleared up but still no balls to go fast . any ideas ?

Compression is good. Those numbers are fine. I would be worried if one was way off or something.
