Hello everyone. My 2001 ranger 3.0/5spd manual has a loss of power around 3500-3600 rpm on the highway while doing 90 mph
. Truck performs great otherwise and no check engine telltale. Thanks in advance for any replies!

Iāll look into that!Mine was doing something like that and it turned out to be a bad distributor rotor.
89-92 is second gen.I wasnāt aware of these 2nd generation rangers having a limiter. What do they top out at? I usually donāt go that fast, just having a little fun on an open stretch of interstate![]()

I always considered 83-92 1st gen even though 89 was mildly refreshed. Thanks89-92 is second gen.
ive had my 91 with the 4.0 up to 120 before i ran out of road90mph seems to be where the limiter is for the v6s, 99 or 100 for the 2.3.

Thanks for the quick replies. Can this be ātuned-outā?
I currently have a JET chip installed.
yea maybe because if his limiter is about 3500 then there must a generation difference because my limiter is around 5000 but also something could be wrong with my truck.Right on, perhaps there's a generational difference to where the limiter is.. all sorts of threads online from people who have early 00's v6s wondering how they can get their trucks past 90mph lol.
With a real tuner it's likely you can shut it off.
The limiter would have to be based in vehicle speed, not rpm. The 3.0L peak power is right around 3500rpm. I often take mine to 4,000 and even 4500 to shift.yea maybe because if his limiter is about 3500 then there must a generation difference because my limiter is around 5000 but also something could be wrong with my truck.
oh ok mine dose something similar even though its an automatic if im at a slow roll or stoped and i step on it it will rap up to 4000-4300 rpms to shiftThe limiter would have to be based in vehicle speed, not rpm.
