So yesterday I was supposed to help a guy finish building a shed. Just a lil 8x10 with 8' walls, all that was left to do was to put the siding on (vinyl), hang the doors, and put the ramp on.... supposed to be just a short day, be done by noon or so (we started at 8am).

Yep, real short all right... I got home around 5:53 pm and was about froze stiff from being outside the entire day.

Today I figured I'd take it easy. Worked on my website this morning to kill time waiting for the UPS man to bring the tire chains for the lawn tractor. After lunch I went out and finished getting the plow mounted on the tractor (had to fix the frame brackets the other day) and fired it up to let it warm up for a couple minutes while I got the chains on....

And then it sputtered and died and wouldn't start. Figures, it was out of gas. Filled it up and tested it out plowing 6" of snow. Started out fine then started making a horrible thumping noise that got louder with each turn of the tires. Stop and look... yep, drive belt is FUBAR. :annoyed:

Ran to get a new one and of course I have trouble getting my bank card to go through...

I think I want to sit in the house the rest of the week, lol.:icon_twisted:

Yep! Some days you get that ol' bear and some days that ol' bear gets you. Life Happens, just keep your chin up.

No worries, not upset over it, just rapidly tiring of having to do things two or three times to get it done. (I had to replace the battery and of course the new one wasn't the right one so I had to swap it.. and they couldn't get the warranty for the swap to go through:dunno: )

I think I might just take the rest of the week off. :icon_idea::icon_cheers:

Just think how tired you'll be after trying to plow very much snow with a lawn mower. Make sure you get out there every few inches and get after it. And push it WAY back from where you need to drive. The light front end of those gets pushed sideways pretty easily so if you let it build up too much you end up being pushed around by the snow and it's a lot of work because you have to keep the blade straight.

I have a 25hp AYP (Craftsman, Husqvarna, Poulan Pro is the same manufacturer) with the rear tires filled and 40# wheel weights--which adds 100# to EACH rear tire. And chains. I plowed snow with it for years--and it has a heavier blade than a lawn tractor at 130#. Under 4" it's fine. Past that, it pushes okay but the snow is the boss after the bank along side the driveway gets past a certain height. So, eventually, I put a steel plow on the B2 and used that. One pass instead of several hours of struggle. Now I put the blade from the garden tractor onto my Bobcat. It's a better fit. The Bobcat is the boss of the snow bank alongside the driveway.

hell we just use a 2008 F-250 with a Western Ultramount Pro-Plus 7'6" straight blade with the optional wings , still takes about 8 passes including backblading by the garage , but our driveway is kinda L shaped

Yea, it's certainly far from perfect, but it beats shoveling, lol.

We have a Gehl skid-steer (or will if the mechanic will ever get done playing with it, lol), so if it builds up too much I could always go after it with that if need be.

If we get enough snow to be worth plowing by morning here, I'll probably put it through it's paces tomorrow. By the time I got done with replacing the belt, supper was here and it was dark.

And I'm looking at getting a 7'6 plow for the F-150, just don't have it yet. Although the way our driveway rolls off, the tractor might do a better job.

lol, if I had my driveway in and we got the 9 trucks out of the driveway, it might take a good couple passes with a big plow here too...

For now though I just have to do around the three in the turn-around and about a 50' strip up to the road. All the rest of the trucks and our trailer are bottling up our lower driveway entrance, lol.

Some days you're the bug, and some days you're the windshield. I've had weeks like that too. Keep your chin up bro!

At least the tractor started on the first try this morning, lol. Might have to tighten the chains again though (or the tires might need air again, lol)

I guess today is starting out better.
I'm hiding in the house today, lol. Working on my website and misc stuff around the house, I'll worry about playing with the tractor again later. Wish I had a garage that I could work on my trucks in...
