Looking to put in a Flowmaster or Magnaflow Muffler

I'm not a fan of Flowmasters unless you have room to stick a short glass pack behind it to kill the hollow tin can sound. Magnaflow, Dynomax Ultra Flow, and Jones Max Flow are all stainless steel, perforated core mufflers similar in function to glass packs. I like Walker Dynomax Turbos mufflers, they flow better without being too noisy. As a long time V8 guy, I think the best way to improve the sound of a six cylinder is to turn it off.

I've had a Flowmaster, Dynomax, and Magnaflow. They're all pretty much the same decibel wise, flowmaster probably sounds the "cleanest" to me, and is louder at higher rpm vs idle compared to the others. If I were to get one now, it would probably be Gibson or Borla.

I'm with Walt on this one. Most 6 cylinders just sound like an old tractor... especially if one doesn't replace the manifolds with headers. The sound does improve with headers.. but its a big expense.

The video you posted only gives you an idea of what the muffler would sound like behind a v8. Apples/cantaloupe comparison.

Haters gonna hate I think a 4.0 with a Flowmaster 40 series and shorty exhaust sounds pretty good. I will take that ANY day over straight piped 5.0 Mustangs and Cummins junk.

How about a 2.8?? Can it sound good? I think some of the guys with fox bodies out exhaust on theirs. I have to redo mine at some point as well.
