First off, this is not an emergency. Just looking for suggestions on getting to the back spark plug.

2003 4x4 4.0 Automatic Trans

My daughter's truck and first time changing the plugs. Hopefully someone can give me tip on how to access the plug. The normal tricks such as standing on my left leg while reaching around the top of the engine with my right hand, reach my left hand under the trans and then run the screw with your nose.

Just hoping to save some aggrevation and skin and take advantage of other people experence. :icon_cheers:

Go through the wheel well.

I agree with Adsm. You might have to remove the rubber part if the inner fender, but it makes it a lot easier.

Don't ya love it when they don't leave enough room to change the spark plugs? Years back while helping a friend do a starter and tune up on his Stang we had to put a jack under the motor and pull the right motor mount bolt and jack the motor up to get to the right rear plug on his 302.

Thanks adsm08. When straight to the wheel well. Pulled the wheel and there it was. Not nearly the big deal I thought it was going to be. Over all, not really bad. Not the easiest plug change but not the hardest by a long shot.

You probably saved me an hour of trying this and trying that before discovering this method of reaching the back plug.

Thanks again for your assistance. It is greatly appreciated.
