If you own a scantool, scan tool, OBDII OBD2 diagnostic tool, could you say a few words about it? I am looking to purchase one that will include pulling transmission codes.
Thanks, MNBen

Name/Brand?
Does it read all codes? Tranny, airbag, etc?
Does it reset the codes?
Price?
Where to buy?
Would you recommend it?

I got the innova, does obd1&2. Look in my build thread for exact model. I'm on my phone or I'd look. Link in the sig. Got mine off eBay

Yeah I run Innova. Canobd2 3100 probably the same as the others just the American counterpart.

I bought mine bc we have obd1&2 vehicles.. Comes with all the cables and all cables and all for like $200

I'm glad to see all the positive reports for the innova. I've been looking at the 3160 for a while now.

Currently I use a scanguage II to pull codes but $150 for a basic code reader is totally not worth it, I'd only recommend it if you plan on using it for the additional instrumentation features.

So it's not really a stand alone but works with your lap top? Been looking for a good one also and found this one today at another site. Looks interesting.

Correct, I use my laptop with it. On my 2006 Escape it tells exact RPM's, temperature, etc. On the 05 and newer cars with CAN BUS it does HP too, but I haven't done it on my Escape yet. Pretty sweet unit.

That one in your link looks interesting. I wouldn't mind messing around with one of those.

I looked up the Innova 3100 after seeing some of the suggestions. I have used that tool as well, and it's a good little unit. One of my friends got his at Walmart a couple years ago. I've used it and it was very user friendly.

The best I've ever used though was made by Snap-On. My friend who owns a transmission shop has one that he paid 8,000 dollars for. But who the hell can afford that if it's not a tax write off?

LOL, here's the same scan tool he has for 4500 used on Ebay:
